How can I motivate my college campus to the forefront of social change

Motivating a College Campus to the Forefront of Social Change

Every Tsunami begins with a small wave. One wave or one idea is all you need to make a momumental impact. Well if you are wondering how your one idea can become so much more and can influence others to make a positive change then good for you, because you've already begun.

So many people are discouraged by the notion of being a small wave or being a lone voice that will get lost in the large world we live in.  Being the minority voice is a challenging role to have. However, someone needs to be courageous enough to stand up for what they believe in so others can follow, resulting in change.

It is imperative to support the small waves so that they have the potential to become a powerful storm. Due to this being my inagural blog post here are three things to start thinking about:

  1. Find People To Ride The Wave With You

I promise, there are others also asking themselves how can I make waves in my community? So band together. There is power in numbers. More people equal more creative minds and a wider network which makes it easier for word to travel.

  2. Make A Splash...Take Action

The classic case of easier said than done. You need to be aware of what will fit your community best? Is it a benefit concert? A protest? A 5k? Being aware of what people will be receptive to will result in even greater masses supporting your cause.
  3. Stay True To The Message

This can become harder the deeper in you get. As the movement progresses and gains more attention, keep in mind the movement's best interests. Also be mindful of outside influences or individuals that may be focusing on self interests rather than the greater good of the cause.

So the question is...what's your wave?  Happy Surfing.
